JUST BECAUSE...

Just because we give good discourses, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we write nicely, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we manage the temple nicely, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we cook nice bhoga, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we start many temples and centers, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we have completed many projects, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we have many followers and have made many devotees, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we have organised many events, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced. Just because we dress the deities nicely, doesn't mean that we are spiritually advanced.

Yes, these services are wonderful and laudable but we shouldn't forget the purpose of doing all these various services. Somehow, the nature of our conditioned mind and intellect is to judge our internal success by the yardstick of external success. We tend to confuse skills with devotion. Skills are a wonderful blessing given to us by Krishna but just possessing them and displaying them is not a sign of our spiritual growth. Whatever gifts we are bestowed with, we should always remember that the only purpose of using them is to please Krishna and nothing else. So the yardstick of being spiritually advanced is how much we have pleased Krishna. And how is Krishna pleased? He is only pleased seeing the devotion of our heart, the purification of our minds, the evolution of our consciousness and the eradication of our anarthas.

So, let us not get caught in the superficialities and forget the essence, let us not get caught in the form and forget the substance beneath the form and let us not get caught in the game of impressing others and forget to impress the heart of Krishna.

Today morning one of our very senior devotee from our Goa congregation, H.G. Gopanand Prabhu left his body. His life has been a glorious one, fully dedicated to practicing the principles of Krishna consciousness. THE POWER OF OBEISANCES

Offering obeisances to the Supreme Lord in His deity form may superficially look like a very small and a simple activity. But, it is one one of the very important and significant aspect of Bhakti. Therefore Lord Krishna stresses the importance of offering obeisances to Him in one of the most important verse of the Bhagvat-gita in chapter 9, verse 34. "man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru mām evaiṣyasi yuktvaivam ātmānaṁ mat-parāyaṇaḥ" "Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, become My devotee, offer obeisances to Me and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me." - Bhagvat-gita 9.34 This verse comes exactly in the middle of Bhagvat-gita making it all the more important. PREPARING OUR MINDS & HEARTS FOR 2020

Take sometime to think about all the things you wanted to do in 2019 and is still undone.   Think about the state of your mental and emotional well-being at the end of 2019. Are you happy about it or do you want to change it for good as you enter 2020? Think about the spiritual advancement you have made in 2019. Do you think you could have advanced much more than you presently have?   How do you want to see yourself placed at the end of 2020   Let these questions act as catalysts and springboard for our thought process so that, we enter the year 2020 with razor sharp focus, unwavering clarity, passionate purpose and unending zeal to upgrade every aspect of our life like never before, break all dis empowering barriers that are holding us down and thus make 2020 a hallmark year in the journey of our life.
